New Farm homebred Heir Port became the first winner for Mosler  Aug. 9, scoring on debut in a $29,500 maiden claiming race at Monmouth Park over six furlongs.

Guided by Paco Lopez, the colt broke next to last in the six-horse field and raced well off the pace in the three path through a :22.51 opening quarter-mile. Advancing slowly heading into the turn, the pair were up in third by the half-mile mark, almost five lengths behind leader Warm Sunny Breeze

Entering the top of the stretch, Heir Port was still running three wide off the rail but began to gain ground and ran down dueling frontrunners Warm Sunny Breeze and Fire's Finale, the latter making his own wide move off the turn to get up for a late challenge.

Under a hand ride from Lopez, Heir Port shot past the leaders, continued to pull away, and crossed the wire 4 1/2 lengths clear in 1:12.64.

Bred in Kentucky out of the Wildcat Heir mare Heir Stream, Heir Port is a half brother to stakes-placed Dial Operator. Trained by Benjamin Perkins Jr., the colt earned $18,000.

A son of War Front , Mosler made 18 starts from 2 to 5 for trainer Bill Mott and owner Adele Dilschneider and earned $341,396. Bred in Kentucky by Cherry Valley Farm out of the Arch mare Gold Vault, Mosler is a half brother to grade 1 winner Contested and a full brother to group 2-placed Air Vice Marshal. Mosler's best scores came at 4 and 5 when he won the Elusive Quality Stakes and Laurel Dash Stakes, respectively. He placed in the Highlander Stakes (G3T) at 4.

Mosler entered stud at Country Life Farm in Maryland in 2017. He stood for a $4,000 fee in 2020.
