Wooderson to Stand at Burdette Thoroughbred in Arkansas

Wooderson has been acquired for stud duty by Burdette Thoroughbred Farm near Goshen, Ark., in a deal brokered by Chad Schumer of Schumer Bloodstock. A half brother to champion and Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, Wooderson's race record includes three wins and a stakes placing to subsequent grade 1 winner Tom's d'Etat. Trained by Todd Pletcher for Let's Go Stable, Wooderson was a maiden winner at Saratoga Race Course and later added a two-length allowance win at Keeneland and a 5 1/2-length allowance optional claiming win at Monmouth Park. He followed up those wins with a second at Saratoga in the Alydar Stakes, beaten only a length by Tom's d'Etat, who went on to win the 2019 Clark Stakes Presented by Norton Healthcare (G1). He pulled almost seven lengths clear of the third-place finisher to earn a 117 Equibase Speed Rating. Wooderson was the co-highest-priced yearling by top sire Awesome Again to sell in 2016 when purchased by Let's Go Stable for $400,000 from Gainesway's consignment to the Keeneland September Yearling Sale. Bred by Heaven Trees Farm out of the stakes-winning Roar mare Lotta Kim, Wooderson's half sister Rachel Alexandra dominated the racing world during her career, amassing 13 wins including the BlackBerry Preakness Stakes (G1), Kentucky Oaks (G1), Haskell Invitational Stakes (G1), Mother Goose Stakes (G1), and Woodward Stakes (G1). A stud fee will be announced at a later date.
