Queen's Juvenile by Sea The Stars Among Trio to Start

Relatives to two recent pattern winners are among the debutants in an interesting novice stakes Aug. 14 at Lingfield. The Betway Novice Stakes drew a field of 11, including the Sir Michael Stoute-trained colt Just Fine (IRE) and Alba Rose (GB), trained by Mark Johnston, that is one of two fillies in the race. Just Fine is owned by the Queen and was bred by Godolphin. By Sea The Stars (IRE), Just Fine is out of Kingmambo's daughter Bint Almatar, a half sister to impressive Bet365 Superlative Stakes (G2) winner Master of The Seas (IRE), who is unbeaten in two starts. A half sister to this year's Glasgow Stakes winner Subjectivisit, Alba Rose is among the competitors. Like her sibling, she is owned by Hong Kong-based economist Dr. Jim Walker and is trained by Johnston. A 100,000 guineas purchase when she was offered by New England Stud at Book 2 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale last year, she is also half sister to another fine Johnston stayer in Sir Ron Priestley, who won last year's Ladbrokes March Stakes (G3). The Lingfield contest is over seven furlongs, with Jim Crowley booked for the Queen's runner and Joe Fanning aboard Walker's newcomer. At the Curragh Friday, another making her debut over seven furlongs and worth looking out for in the Loder Irish EBF Fillies race is Shandra (IRE). An Aga Khan homebred by Sea The Stars out of Shareen and trained by Dermot Weld, Shandra is a half sister to, among others, dual Moyglare Jewels Blandford Stakes (G2) winner Shamreen (IRE). Oisin Orr takes the ride as Shandra is set to face seven opponents on her first start.
