Winchell Thoroughbreds' homebred Pneumatic will make his first trip around the Monmouth Park main track Aug. 15 when he faces a field of seven other 3-year-olds in the $150,000 TVG.com Pegasus Stakes.

Trained by Steve Asmussen, the son of Uncle Mo  has not been seen since June 20 in New York, where he ran a credible fourth behind Tiz the Law  in the shortened, 1 1/8-mile Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1) at Belmont Park. Pneumatic's only prior effort in stakes company came May 23 at Churchill Downs, where he finished third in the Matt Winn Stakes (G3) less than two lengths behind Maxfield

"He's a talented 3-year-old and off the Belmont Stakes Steve felt this was the right spot for him," said Scott Blasi, Asmussen's assistant. "We'd like to see him run a good race off being fourth in the Belmont Stakes."

Traditionally a prep for the TVG.com Haskell Stakes (G1), the Pegasus was moved on the calendar due to the COVID-19 pandemic as a last-chance qualifier for the Sept. 5 Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1). Total points of 20-8-4-2 will be awarded to the first four finishers.

Pneumatic currently sits in 22nd on the Kentucky Derby leaderboard with 25 points. The American classic is limited to 20 starters and there are 16 firm commitments at this time.

"If you're considering the Derby, points are always important," said Blasi. "Steve just thinks it's a good spot to run back off the Belmont Stakes. I don't think we're looking further past Saturday and then we'll evaluate what we can do from there. The Belmont Stakes was a tough spot. He's a lightly-raced colt that is going to continue to improve."

Pneumatic will break from post 5 in the Pegasus under jockey Joe Bravo.

Locally-based trained Kelly Breen will send out Florida-bred As Seen On Tv, who will be making his first start since March. Owned by Screen Door Stables, the son of Lookin At Lucky has taken some time off since competing in the March 28 Curlin Florida Derby (G1), where he finished off the board.

As Seen On Tv hit the board in stakes company twice at the start of the year, running second in the Jan. 4 Mucho Macho Man Stakes and third in the Feb. 29 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2)—both at Gulfstream Park

As Seen On Tv will leave post 7 under Rafael Diaz, Jr.

Breaking from the outside post 8 will be Grupo 7C Racing Stable's Jesus' Team, who enters off a fourth-place finish in the July 18 Haskell Stakes. Trained by Jose D'Angelo, the Tapiture  colt will partner with Paco Lopez.
