Acadiana Equine Lowers 2021 Stud Fees

Acadiana Equine@Copper Crowne announced reduced 2021 fees for the three stallions standing at the farm near Opelousas, La., led by Gemologist, whose fee has been set at $4,000. "For obvious reasons, we want to provide Louisiana breeders some relief and give them a better opportunity for profitability in the future," stallion manager David Tillson said. "Standing three of the top six sires in Louisiana offers proven commodities to breeders and with the new ability for out-of-state mares to join the lucrative Louisiana-bred program." Gemologist, an 11-year-old son of recently pensioned Tiznow, leads the Louisiana stallion rankings with nearly $3.7 million in progeny earnings and three black-type winners so far this year. Gemologist was the state's leading sire in 2018 and 2019. Court Vision, the sire of 2019 champion 2-year-old colt Storm the Court, will stand for $2,500. The 15-year-old son of Gulch was the first stallion Acadiana Equine placed at Copper Crowne. Court Vision is Louisiana's second-leading sire as of Nov. 20 with more than $1.9 million in progeny earnings and five black-type performers. Astrology, a 12-year-old son of A.P. Indy, is the sixth-leading Louisiana stallion this year with 35 winners and nearly $1.09 million in progeny earnings. Standing for $2,500 next year, Astrology has been a top 10 Louisiana stallion since 2017, rising up to be the third-leading sire behind Gemologist and Court Vision in 2018.
