Authentic and Into Mischief Get $1 Million Bump

Spendthrift Farm's marquee sire Into Mischief and his classic-winning son Authentic got a significant bump in their respective progeny earnings and career earnings Nov. 24 when Equibase officially recognized a $1 million bonus Authentic earned for sweeping the TVG.com Haskell Stakes (G1), Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1), and Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (G1). Equibase modified the official chart for the Classic to reflect the bonus offered by the Australian-based racing technology group BetMakers in conjunction with Monmouth Park and called the BetMakers Bonanza. Authentic's win in the Classic is now worth $4,120,000, which raised his earnings for the year to $7,160,000 and his career earnings to $7,191,200. The bonus also significantly boosts Into Mischief's 2020 progeny earnings, which had already passed the single-season progeny earnings record of $19,983,173 for North America-based sires set in 2016 by Gainesway's Tapit. On Nov. 22, Into Mischief eased over the record mark by a slim $11,547 when his son Life Is Good won his debut at Del Mar. Now Into Mischief's progeny earnings are pulling away and were in excess of $21.1 million late on Tuesday. The BetMakers Bonanza will continue for at least the next two years but with a different selection of races. The Haskell and Breeders' Cup Classic will again 'book-end' the Bonanza with the middle leg to be determined.
