William A. Price Jr. of San Diego, Calif., passed away peacefully Nov. 26. The 77-year-old Price was RA Hill Stables' racing manager.

Billy was born in New Orleans Jan.12,1943. He moved to Mountainside, N.J., where he went to Governor Livingston Regional High School.  He was a track and football star. Because of his tough running style as a half-back, he was know as the "Bull." Price graduated from Curry College in Milton, Mass.

After graduation he went on to work at General Motors for more than 20 years as regional sales manager. After retiring from General Motors he became the stable manager for RA Hill Stables where he fulfilled his lifelong passion for Thoroughbred racing. He managed more than 60 Thoroughbreds and in 2019 fulfilled another lifelong dream of having two horses run in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve (G1). Price spent every summer in Saratoga at his best friend Randy Hill's summer home in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Every morning they would head to the track to watch their horses work out before the day's races.

Price was the ultimate southern gentleman and always greeted friends and strangers alike with a warm heart and wonderful conversation. He could talk to anyone and always made whomever he was speaking with feel so special. Price had a beautiful contagious smile and laugh but he will be remembered most of all for his kindness. Price's dog, Daisy, was his constant companion and partner in crime until the very end. He took Daisy everywhere he went.

Price is survived by his sister, Maryanne Hayes, and brother in law, Jim, as well as many close friends who will feel the loss of his amazing spirit for years to come.
