Last year's Japanese Triple Tiara heroine Daring Tact will make her 4-year-old debut in the Kinko Sho (G2) over 2,000 meters (about 1 1/4 miles) on turf at Chukyo Racecourse March 14.
Daring Tact—whose second dam, Daring Heart, is a half sister to Super Derby (G1) winner Ecton Park—was bred by Hasegawa Farm and purchased by Makio Okada's Normandy Farm at the 2018 Japan Racing Horse Association Select Sale for ¥12,000,000 (US$108,600).
The Epiphaneia daugher won the Oka Sho (Japanese One Thousand Guineas, G1) at Hanshin last April, the Yushun Himba (Japanese Oaks, G1) at Tokyo in May, and the Shuka Sho (G1) at Kyoto in October. She was awarded the Japan Racing Association Award for champion 3-year-old filly of 2020. She experienced her first defeat in the Japan Cup (G1) at Tokyo in November, finishing third behind winner Almond Eye and runner-up Contrail, the 2020 Japanese Triple Crown victor.
After resting two months at the Onomachi branch of Normandy Farm, Daring Tact returned to training at Haruki Sugiyama's barn in the Ritto Training Center Feb. 10.
Glory Vase, winner of three graded stakes including the 2019 Longines Hong Kong Vase (G1), will likely be the horse to beat in the Kinko Sho.
Daring Tact's connections announced they have plans following the Kinko Sho to ship their filly to Hong Kong for the FWD Queen Elizabeth Ⅱ Cup (G1) at Sha Tin April 25.
