Lord North Posts Easy Dubai Turf Victory
With a powerful stretch run near the center of the Meydan turf course, Lord North (IRE) rolled to a decisive victory March 27 in the $4 million Dubai Turf Sponsored by DP World (G1T). With the clear victory in the 1,800-meter (about 1 1/8 mile) turf race, HH Sheikh Zayed bin Mohammed Racing's Lord North earned the second top-level victory of his career. The Dubawi (IRE) gelding also won last year's Prince of Wales's Stakes (G1) at Royal Ascot. Lord North, a 5-year-old, is trained by John Gosden and was guided to victory by Frankie Dettori. He was followed home by Japan-based Vin de Garde (JPN) and longshot Felix (GB). For a full recap of the grade 1 turf action at Meydan, click here.
