Eclipse Awards Move to Santa Anita

Next year's 51st annual Eclipse Awards dinner and ceremony, honoring Thoroughbred racing's champions of 2021, will be held at Santa Anita Park in Arcadia, Calif., the National Thoroughbred Racing Association, Daily Racing Form, and the National Turf Writers and Broadcasters announced Sept. 21. Held in conjunction with the Stronach Group, the Eclipse Awards dinner and ceremony at Santa Anita will take place on Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022. Only a few days later on Sunday, Feb. 13, the NFL's Super Bowl LVI will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. Both Arcadia and Inglewood are located just outside Los Angeles. Additional information about the 51st annual Eclipse Awards dinner and ceremony will be announced in the coming weeks. The Stronach Group hosted the Eclipse Awards ceremony at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, Fla., from 2013 through 2020. This year's awards presentation, held Jan. 28, was a virtual ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The date of next year's Eclipse Awards ceremony allows the event to remain close to a major sporting event, though this time an event outside of horse racing. When the ceremony was held at Gulfstream Park in recent years, it took place in late January close to the date of the South Florida oval's Pegasus World Cup Invitational Series, which was contested for the first time in 2017.
