Monmouth at Meadowlands Dates Amended

The dates for the traditional Monmouth at Meadowlands meet featuring all turf racing in the month of October have been amended and reduced from nine dates to seven to accommodate harness racing's Breeders Crown championship series being held at the same track, according to Monmouth Park officials. Standardbred racing's $6 million Breeders Crown series involves elimination races prior to the finals and takes place during the month. The move received approval from the New Jersey Racing Commission in its regularly scheduled meeting Sept. 22. The new Thoroughbred dates are on Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 1-2 and Oct. 8-9, in the first two weeks of the month; Friday, Oct. 15; and in the last two weeks on Saturdays Oct. 23 and Oct. 30. All first post times are at 7 p.m. ET. The final day of Monmouth Park's 55-day meet at the Jersey Shore is Sunday, Sept. 26. Monmouth Park announced the seven dates for the Monmouth at Meadowlands meet, pending approval from the NJRC at that time. In other action Wednesday, the NJRC voted to approve the allocation of $7.5 million in Thoroughbred purse subsidies to Monmouth Park for the 2022 meet. The allocation for purses is required by state statute.
