First-crop yearling sire and four-time grade 1 winner Oscar Performance will stand for $12,500 for first-time breeders and $10,000 for repeat breeders and those booking multiple mares, Mill Ridge Farm announced Nov. 11.
Oscar Performance, bred by Mrs. Jerry Amerman and campaigned by Amerman Racing with Brian Lynch as his trainer, was raised at Mill Ridge. The now-7-year-old son of leading sire Kitten's Joy was a grade 1 winner each year he raced from 2 to 4. At age 2 in 2016, he won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T). The following year at 3, Oscar Performance won three of seven starts, which included victories in the Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (G1T) and Secretariat Stakes (G1T) on his way to earning more than $1 million in 2017. He kept the momentum going at 4 when he won the Ricoh Woodbine Mile Stakes (G1T). Oscar Performance also set a one-mile turf track record at Belmont Park when he won the 2018 Poker Stakes (G3T) in 1:31.23.
For his career, Oscar Performance compiled an 8-0-1 record from 15 starts and earned $2,345,696.
Oscar Performance has been well received by breeders, covering 118 mares his first year at stud, 116 his second, and 85 mares in his third year. Oscar Performance has been represented by 33 yearlings sold this year, including five that sold for six figures. His top seller to date is an $180,000 filly out of the Street Sense mare Wild Silk.
