Giant Game Fires Another Bullet Before 3-Year-Old Debut

West Point Thoroughbreds and Albaugh Family Stables' Giant Game, unraced since running third in the TVG Breeders' Cup Juvenile Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (G1), breezed five furlongs in :59.76 at Gulfstream Park toward his 3-year-old debut, the fastest of five workers at the distance. This breeze followed two earlier bullet moves at Gulfstream this month. According to West Point's chief operating officer Tom Bellhouse, the $250,000 Holy Bull Stakes (G3) at 1 1/16 miles Feb. 5 is under consideration for an upcoming race. The son of Giant's Causeway is 1-0-2 in three starts, also making him eligible for a first-level allowance. He has earnings of $242,400 for trainer Dale Romans. The Holy Bull is Gulfstream's next major stakes race for 3-year-olds, followed by the $400,000 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) March 5 and $1 million Curlin Florida Derby (G1) April 2. "I think everything is progressing nicely. I did talk to Dale probably a week ago and he was upbeat," Bellhouse said. "He said everything is going smooth. From what I understand, the Holy Bull is on the table. If he's training well, I would think he'd go to the Holy Bull." Giant Game is a 30-1 shot in this weekend's second round of the Kentucky Derby Future Wager after his rallying third behind Corniche and Pappacap last fall at 21-1 odds in the Juvenile.
