Breeders' Cup Announces Two Classic Future Wagers

Breeders' Cup, in conjunction with Keeneland, announced July 29 a pair of future wagers on the Nov. 5 Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) at the Lexington track, offered in a pair of betting pools in the coming months. Wagering on the first pool will open Aug. 5 at 12 p.m. ET. and conclude at 6 p.m. ET Aug. 7. The second future wager will be offered Sept. 2 at 12 p.m. ET and end at 6 p.m. ET Sept. 5. Similar to the Kentucky Derby Future Wagers conducted by Churchill Downs and future bets offered previously by Breeders' Cup, the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic Future Wager allows gamblers to bet among 24 wagering options for the $6 million Breeder's Cup Classic months in advance. One of those options will be a field of "All Others," horses not among the 23 individual interests. Odds on horses in future pools can provide more value to bettors than win bets available on race day, though with greater risk and a longer wait for a payoff. The unbeaten Flightline is widely regarded as the current favorite for the 1 1/4-mile Breeders' Cup Classic. His stock could rise or fall depending on how he performs in his first scheduled two-turn race Sept. 3 in the $1 million TVG Pacific Classic (G1) at Del Mar. Only win wagering is available for the Breeders' Cup future wagers, which have a $2 minimum. Betting will be offered at tracks, simulcast centers, and other providers with pari-mutuel wagering.
