With great expectations come great rewards—an expression that is expected to ring true for Hip 207 at The Saratoga Sale.

A son of Into Mischief , the colt consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency to Fasig-Tipton's select yearling sale in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. is a half to both Mitole  (by Eskendereya) and to Hot Rod Charlie (by Oxbow ). He is out of 2021 broodmare of the year Indian Miss, a daughter of Indian Charlie owned by OXO Equine, which bred the colt in Kentucky.

Frank Taylor, vice president of sales at Taylor Made Farm, says he is thrilled to have the opportunity to show the colt off.

"This is a very good-looking colt. His body shape and athleticism are just unbelievable. If this horse is not a runner, I'll eat my hat," Taylor said. "He's got the mind, the build, the pedigree, and what a great stallion prospect he'll make when he runs like I think he will.

"He's a very special horse, one of the best yearlings that we've taken to market ever. We're really excited about him... He's just got everything you could possibly want."

"The Mighty" Mitole started the upward trajectory of Indian Miss with a highly impressive campaign for William and Corrine Heilligbrodt and trainer Steve Asmussen. Winner of four grade 1 stakes topped by the 2019 Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1), he secured 2019 champion male sprinter honors and earned more than $3.1 million on the track. He entered stud in 2020 at Spendthrift Farm.

Not only is Hip 207's family prospering in the breeding shed but also on the track, with current runner Hot Rod Charlie. With $5,251,200 in earnings and a record of 4-5-4 from 17 starts, Hot Rod Charlie won the Pennsylvania Derby (G1) and Twinspires.com Louisiana Derby (G2) in 2021, when he finished second in the Belmont Stakes Presented by NYRA Bets (G1) and fourth in the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic (G1). He placed second in the Dubai World Cup Sponsored by Emirates Airline (G1) this year was third last out in the Aug. 6 Whitney Stakes (G1) at Saratoga. He also placed second in the 2020 TVG Breeders' Cup Juvenile Presented by Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance (G1).

Other winning families are on offer, including a colt by Tapit  consigned as Hip 134 by Sequel New York, agent for Chester and Mary Broman, who bred the horse.

Long-standing clients of Sequel, the colt is out of the Broman's grade 1 stakes-winning mare Bar of Gold whom they bred in New York.

A daughter of Medaglia d'Oro , Bar of Gold's first foal is a full brother to Hip 134 in the graded stakes-winning look-a-like Coinage.

Owned in partnership by the Bromans and D. J. Stable, Coinage won the 2021 With Anticipation Stakes (G3T) and the Palm Beach Stakes in March of this year. He is 3-0-6 from 12 starts and has earnings of $340,750.

"This is a really pretty colt, he's a medium-sized Tapit," said Sequel owner Becky Thomas. "Bar of Gold herself is a big, scopey mare. This colt is a March foal but (as far as) progeny, he is very, very similar to Coinage... Coinage is, of course, very current. I think he'll get better with age.

"Mr. Broman's got all of these families; we're blessed to be able to know their whole history. I always feel like I'm in Disney World every year when we get the new babies. When they wean the foals in New York, I get them in Florida and they're raised in Florida at our farm... When you have generations of horses that you know, it helps to make better mating decisions the next year."

Another yearling of interest with present family to boast is Hip 154, a Candy Ride  filly consigned by Warrendale Sales.

Out of the Smart Strike stakes-winning mare Checkered Past, the filly shares her dam with multiple grade 3 stakes winner Messier  (by Empire Maker).

"She's a half to Messier, a horse that Bob Baffert had this spring and is now back in his care. He's a really good racehorse that belongs to The Avengers (an ownership group led by SF Racing, Starlight Racing, and Madaket Stables)," said Kitty Taylor, owner of Warrendale Sales.

"(The filly) is a beautiful mover. We bought the mare out of the Sam-Son dispersal (at the 2021 Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale for $290,000) for client Silesia Farm, Dr. Hartmut Malluche. He really stepped up his game in the past two years, buying some really nice mares for commercial breeding. She's a gorgeous physical and we hope to do well with her up here."

Messier is a winner of the 2021 Bob Hope Stakes (G3) and the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G3) in February. He was also runner-up in the Runhappy Santa Anita Derby (G1).

Another yearling consigned by Taylor Made is Hip 117, an Arrogate colt who is a half to grade 2 winner Wholebodemeister (by Bodemeister). Out of the graded stakes-placed Scat Daddy mare Wholelottashakin, the colt was bred by Sabana Farm in Kentucky.
