Jockey Seina Imamura collected her 31st win Aug. 20 at Kokura Racecourse; the 18-year-old is now eligible to ride in Japan Racing Association grade 1 stakes. She guided the 2-year-old colt Yamanin Ours, by Just a Way, to the winner's circle in race 6 for trainer Takashi Saito.
The colt bred by Nishikioka Farm and owned by Hajime Doi covered 1,700 meters in 1:44.3 to set a track record for 2-year-olds on the dirt course.
Imamura is the daughter of JRA jockey Yasunari Imamura, who won 45 races from 1997-2012. She obtained her apprentice license March 1 this year and rode her first winner March 13 at Hanshin Racecourse in an allowance race aboard Brabeio.
Imamura guided the 3-year-old Red Spada filly T M Spada to victory in the July 3 CBC Sho (G3) at Kokura while setting a 1,200-meter track record of 1:05.8 and collected her first graded stakes win.
Aug. 20 was Imamura's 169th day riding. She is the third-fastest jockey to record 31 winners in her career, just behind Yuichi Fukunaga, who rode 31 winners after 128 days in 1996, and Kosei Miura, who also rode 31 in 128 days in 2008.
According to website Japan Forward, Imamura earlier this summer became the second female jockey to win a JRA graded race, joining Nanako Fujita, who won 2019 Capella Stakes (G3).
