Kentucky Downs Cancels Sept. 4 Card Due to Weather

Heavy rainfall led to the cancellation of the final three races on the Sept. 3 slate at Kentucky Downs, and the Southern Kentucky track called off the Sept. 4 card shortly thereafter. Kentucky Downs runs exclusively on turf. There is a threat of additional rainfall throughout much of the weekend. Among Saturday's canceled races, the $1 million WinStar Mint Million Stakes (G3T) will now run Sept. 10, and the Kentucky Downs Juvenile Mile Stakes will go off Sept. 14. Nominations for both are reopened and will close Sept. 4. All horses which were previously nominated are automatically nominated. An updated decision on the Sunday card, which could be moved intact to Labor Day, will be made no later than 6:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. Tickets for Sunday will be good for Labor Day.
