J.S. Broodmares Sale Led by Shadai Farm Consignment

There are 210 fillies and mares cataloged for the Oct. 26 Autumn Broodmares Sale, which will be conducted by J.S.Company at Shizunai on Hokkaido Island. The biggest consignor is Teruya Yoshida's Shadai Farm, which offers 41 fillies and mares, including 18 horses from Shadai Bloodmare. One of those on offer is Hip 47, Unlimited Budget, who won the 2012 Demoiselle Stakes (G2), 2013 Fair Grounds Oaks (G2), and the 2013 Rachel Alexandra Stakes (G3). She finished third in the 2013 Longines Kentucky Oaks (G1). The 12-year-old Street Sense mare was a $1.3 million purchase by Yoshida from the Taylor Made Sales Agency consignment to the 2014 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Mixed Sale. She has produced three winners in Japan from four to race and is in foal to Mind Your Biscuits, who began his stud career in 2019 at Shadai Stallion Station. The first crop sire touts 14 2-year-old winners and sits atop the freshman stallion rankings in Japan. Another feature of the catalog is Hip 33, Xmas (JPN), consigned by Angel Racing. The 11-year-old daughter of Bago (FR) won the 2013 Hakodate Nisai Stakes (G3). She is a half sister to Isis, the dam of Sapporo Nisai Stakes (G3) winner Dura (JPN), who is regarded as a Classic prospect for 2023. The mare is in foal to Lord Kanaloa (JPN), second on Japan's leading sires ranking behind Deep Impact. In 2021, 154 horses were sold for a gross of ¥567,215,000 (US$3,955,559), an average of ¥3,683,214 (US$25,685).
