After entering stud in 2018 at Sequel Stallions New York, the newly gelded stakes winner Union Jackson has been retired from the breeding shed and will embark on a new career as a riding horse.
The blue-blooded Union Jackson, bred and raced by Barbara Banke of Stonestreet Stables, is a son of two-time Horse of the Year and top sire Curlin and the grade 1-winning racemare Hot Dixie Chick (Dixie Union). He campaigned for the same connections as his star studded parents as well as his half sister, Pauline's Pearl, an earner of more than $1.6 million on the track and the winner of this year's La Troienne Stakes Presented by Signify Health (G1) on Kentucky Oaks Day.
Union Jackson himself captured two stakes races during his 5-year-old campaign on the track, taking the 2017 Sam Houston Sprint Cup Stakes and the Iowa Sprint Handicap. He also finished third in the 2016 Aristides Stakes (G3). The chestnut closed out his career with a record of 6-1-2 from 11 starts and earnings of $273,874.
As a stallion, Union Jackson stood four seasons at Sequel Stallions New York, where he sired 24 winners for progeny earnings of $1,258,452. This year he sired two stakes winners, Kisses for Emily and Jackson Heights.
The 10-year-old is available for an adoption fee of $3,500 at New Vocations Farm in Lexington.
