Northern Farm has announced the birth of the brilliant Almond Eye's second foal, a colt by multiple top-level winner and 2015 Horse of the Year Maurice, one of the leading lights at Shadai Stallion Station.
Almond Eye, a daughter of Lord Kanaloa, was no slouch on the track with nine graded/group 1 wins to her name during an outstanding three-season career. She was Japan's 2018 Horse of the Year, Champion 3-year-old filly, and won the Filly Triple Crown. In 2019 she was the United Arab Emirates Highweighted older horse and took the 2020 Japan Horse of the year and Champion older mare title.
Her prolific haul started with wins in the Oka Sho-Japanese One Thousand Guineas (G1) and Yushun Himba-Japanese Oaks (G1), which were followed by the Shuka Sho (G1), and a first success in the Japan Cup (G1) in November, all in her 3-year-old year. The following spring, she added the Dubai Turf (G1) to her record along with the Tenno Sho Autumn (G1).

Her last season, in 2020, saw her annex the Victoria Mile (G1) by four lengths, the Tenno Sho Autumn, and then a second Japan Cup, defeating Triple Crown hero Contrail in the process.
The Northern Racing-bred 8-year-old had her first foal last year, a colt by Shadai Stallion Farm's Epiphaneia. She retired with earnings of $17,608,586 and a place among Japan's superstars of recent years.
