Warhorse Beverly Park Eyes First Start of 2023
Beverly Park, the winningest horse of 2022, will start his 2023 campaign at Hollywood Casino At Charles Town Races, where he has been entered into a Jan. 19 starter allowance race for 4-year-olds and up that have started for a claiming price of $5,000 or less since Jan. 19, 2021. Campaigned by trainer Norman Cash's Built Wright Stables, the 6-year-old Munnings horse ended his 5-year-old year with 15 wins under Cash's tutelage. Remarkably, he is the first horse since the invincible Rapid Redux (19 straight wins in 2011) to capture more than 13 races in a season. Bred in Kentucky by Ray Hanson and George Gilbert out of the Langfuhr mare Madeira Park, Beverly Park garnered his 25th win from 47 career starts last out in a Dec. 31 starter optional claiming race at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. Cash claimed the horse in August 2021 for only $12,500 at Belterra Park. He will look for his fourth consecutive win after two victories at Mahoning Valley Race Course Nov. 28 and Dec. 12 respectively before ending his year on a high note in New Orleans. Others in the field include stablemate Masai Man, Wade Sanderson trainee Aaron's Tap, William Devane and Adam King's Subject to Change, Anthony Farrior trainees Trustyourinstinct and Positive Phil, Jody Lee Caison's Inside Risk, and No Fooling Dude who is conditioned by trainer Ronney Brown.
