First Foal Born by Late New York Sire Combatant

The late grade 1 winner Combatant sired his first reported foal Jan. 21, when a filly out of the Unbridled's Song daughter Sadie's Song was born at Waldorf Farm, near North Chatham, N.Y. Combatant was a son of Scat Daddy who raced from 2-6 and captured his best win in the 2020 Santa Anita Handicap (G1). Tragically, he died at 7 back in August due to colic while standing at Haras Porta Pia in Chile. The syndicated stallion had covered 85 mares in 2022 while standing at Rockridge Stud in New York. Raced from 2017-19 by Winchell Thoroughbreds and Willis Horton Racing and then in 2020 by Hronis Racing, Combatant won or placed in seven graded stakes. He was retired with a 4-5-6 record from 30 starts and earned $1,062,915. Combatant became Brian Levings' first venture in the stallion business. McConnell Racing, who co-owned Sadie's Song as a racehorse with Team Stallion Racing, bred the Combatant filly. The mare has produced eight named foals, which include winners J C's Not Brown, Chenais' Posse, War Terminator, and Eye See Skiesofblu. Sadie's Song is a full sister to stakes-placed winner Miss Luann, who is the dam of grade 3 winner Nomorerichblondes (Hard Spun) and stakes winner Sharp Kitty (Kitten's Joy). The mare also is a full sister to winner Catch My Eye, who is the dam of Gamely Stakes (G1) winner Maxim Rate (Exchange Rate).
