The Association of Racing Commissioners International announced today the inaugural Caribbean Racing & Regulatory Conference hosted by the Camarero Race Track, Corp. in Canovanas, Puerto Rico on Nov. 2 and 3, 2023.
"The impetus for the Conference originated with members of the horse racing industry in the Caribbean region, who sought a need for a unified regional approach to industry issues," said Ed Martin, RCI President.
ARCI was asked by industry leaders and regulators for assistance in planning and holding this inaugural event. RCI's Vice President for Racing, Wendy Culberson, has been working with regional leaders to develop a working agenda that will deal with issues affecting the movement of horses within and without the region, aftercare programs, regulatory uniformity, and regional needs to ensure a successful racing industry going forward.
"The hope is that through education and conciliatory efforts by representatives of the racing jurisdictions in the Caribbean, progress will be made to improve competition and racing conditions in the region," said Ms. Culberson.
The Puerto Rico Gaming Commission and the Camarero Race Track have worked with ARCI and a Planning Group of representatives from the region to make this inaugural event a reality. The Conference will involve presentations and speakers from the horse racing industry in the Caribbean region and the United States.
