Three stakes worth a combined $400,000, including the $200,000 Great Lady M. Stakes (G2), highlight the eight-day Los Angeles County Fair meet at Los Alamitos Race Course June 22 through July 7.
The Great Lady M. Stakes for fillies and mares at 6 1/2 furlongs will be run July 6. Since 2010, this race has been won seven times by Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert, who saddled last year's winner—grade 1 winner and multiple stakes winner Eda, a daughter of Munnings owned by Baoma Corp.
Also featured during the meet is the $100,000 Los Alamitos Derby, which Reincarnate won in 2023 and gave Baffert his seventh consecutive victory in the race. To be run June 29, the Los Alamitos Derby is for 3-year-olds at 1 1/8 miles. Baffert has won this race 13 times, getting 10 of those victories since 2009. His most recent streak includes eventual 3-year-old champion West Coast (2017), Once On Whiskey (2018), Game Winner (2019), Uncle Chuck (2020), Classier (2021), and High Connection (2022).
The other stakes on the schedule is the $100,000 Bertrando Stakes for 3-year-olds and up, bred or sired in California. The one-mile race will be run June 22.
Los Alamitos will host a handicapping contest July 6 and the Los Alamitos Racing Association will offer a cash prize and two berths in the 2025 National Thoroughbred Handicapping Championship in Las Vegas. The cost to enter is $500.
