Speed remained on display at the under tack show May 17 for the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale at the Maryland State Fair Grounds in Timonium, Md.
While not quite as fast as the prior day—no horse came in under :10 for a furlong Friday—Hip 401, a Bolt d'Oro filly out of the Wavertree Stables consignment, stopped the clock at :10 to be the fastest for the day. The filly is out of the Arch mare Werewolf.
Plenty of her salesmates—21—covered the eighth-mile in :10 1/5, including another by the Spendthrift stallion. Consigned by Kings Equine, Hip 579 is a dark bay or brown colt out of the unraced Distorted Humor mare Distorted Point.
Meanwhile, 14 horses went two furlongs Friday with none matching the under tack-best mark of :21 1/5 which was accomplished five times over the first two days of the under tack show.
The best Friday was Hip 565, a colt by Authentic who ran :21 2/5 and is consigned by Pick View, agent. His second dam, Ricki S, is a full sister to grade 1 winner Brass Hat.
Right behind him at two furlongs was a trio posting :21 3/5 including a colt by Practical Joke , consigned as Hip 403. The bay colt consigned by Golden Rock Thoroughbreds, agent, is out of the Liaison mare Whats Yur Story. The colt had a recent update to his catalog page. Pat Day Mile Stakes (G2) second Nash, is out of a half sister to Whats Yur Story, Sara Louise.
The Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale will be held May 20-21.
