Good Samaritan, a grade 1-placed, multiple grade 2 winner and top 20 third-crop sire, has been sold to Haras Mocito Guapo in Chile, according to Bowling Bloodstock and Sullivan Bloodstock, which brokered the deal.
The 10-year-old son of Harlan's Holiday, who was born and raised at WinStar Farm in Central Kentucky and then entered stud there in 2019, had shuttled for four seasons to Chile in 2019-21 and in 2023. Four of his graded stakes winners to date were bred in Chile and include group 1 winner Yahshua; group 1-placed, group 3 winner Entera Good; group 2 winner Good Sea; and, group 3 winner Horco Molle. Good Samaritan's South American-bred runners have earned nearly $925,000 to date.
Good Samaritan was campaigned by WinStar, China Horse Club International, SF Racing, and Head of Plains Partners. He won graded stakes each year while racing from 2 to 4, capturing the 2016 Summer Stakes (G2T), 2017 Jim Dandy Stakes (G2), and 2018 New Orleans Handicap (G2). He was runner-up in the 2017 Clark Handicap (G1) and third in the 2016 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1T). He compiled a 4-3-2 record from 15 starts and earned $1,309,450.
In the United States, Good Samaritan sired stakes winners Secret Money, Can Group, Good Sam, and Nice Neighbor. His lifetime worldwide progeny earnings to date is just shy of $7.4 million. He stood this year for $5,000.
