Walmac Farm's stallion Pappacap , a multiple grade 1-placed, grade 2 winner and near-millionaire son of leading sire Gun Runner , sired his first reported foal Jan. 12 at Pennland Farm near Paris, Ky.

John Penn bred the colt out of the winning Liaison mare Three Halos, who is a half sister to grade 3 winner Cinco Charlie (Indian Charlie). Three Halo's dam, stakes-placed winner Ten Halos, is a half sister to graded stakes winners My Pal Charlie (Indian Charlie), Bwana Charlie (Indian Charlie), and Bwana Bull (Holy Bull). Penn also bred Bwana Bull and My Pal Charlie.

"If someone doesn't like this foal, then they don't like horses," Penn said.

Pappacap was one of four graded stakes winners sired by Gun Runner in his 2021 freshman sire season, during which the 2017 Horse of the Year and champion older dirt male set a freshman year progeny earnings record of more than $4.27 million. Pappacap won the 2021 Best Pal Stakes (G2) and was second in the 2021 Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1), 2021 American Pharoah Stakes (G1), and the 2022 Woody Stephens Stakes (G1).

Out of a graded stakes-placed Scat Daddy mare who also produced graded stakes winner Boppy O, Pappacap hails from the family of group 1 winner Al Qasr, who was champion imported older horse twice in Peru, two-time champion imported stayer, and Peru's 2011 Horse of the Year.

Pappacap bred 200 mares in his initial book and stands the 2025 breeding season for $12,500 with a stands and nurses guarantee.
