Finger Lakes Cancels May 20 Card Due to Lack of Entries
The lack of entries has prompted officials at Finger Lakes Gaming & Racetrack to cancel live racing for Tuesday, May 20. Due to the lingering impacts of a long winter, combined with a wet spring, trainers had limited training opportunities to fully prepare their horses for the season. As the amount of fit and available racehorses continues to grow, the race office is hopeful entries will return to normal in order to maintain the Monday through Wednesday racing schedule. "At Finger Lakes, we strive for large fields, which create attractive wagering opportunities for our patrons," racing secretary Jerry Richards said. Live Thoroughbred action will resume May 19 and then be held May 21. Post time is 1 p.m. each race day. Finger Lakes averaged 6.3 starters per race May 12-14.
