Sovereignty rocketed to the No. 1 spot on the National Thoroughbred Racing Association's Top 3-Year-Old Thoroughbred Poll released June 10 following his dominating win in the June 7 Belmont Stakes (G1). He jumped to No. 4 on the Top Thoroughbred Poll, having been outside the top 10 since his win in the Kentucky Derby (G1). Sovereignty earned all of the possible votes in the 3-year-old category—300, with 30 first-place votes.

The son of Into Mischief  defeated Preakness Stakes (G1) winner Journalism in a much anticipated showdown Saturday at Saratoga Race Course. Trainer Bill Mott's decision to skip the Preakness proved to be a worthy move, with Sovereignty easily winning the 1 1/4-mile race, finishing almost a full second faster than last year's Belmont winner Dornoch . The Godolphin homebred now boasts a bankroll of $4,872,800, with four wins from seven starts.

Raging Torrent, winner of the June 7 Metropolitan Handicap (G1) overtook the No. 1 spot on the Top Thoroughbred Poll after defeating Fierceness, who had held on to the top spot the past two weeks. Raging Torrent earned 238 points, with eight first-place votes, while Fierceness earned 217 with two first-place votes.
