Mindframe Continues to Lead NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll

A week and a half removed from his victory in the June 28 Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) at Churchill Downs over Sierra Leone and Mystik Dan, Mindframe remains No. 1 in the National Thoroughbred Racing Association Top Thoroughbred Poll for the second consecutive week. Mindframe, a 4-year-old son of Constitution trained by Hall of Famer Todd Pletcher, is a dual grade 1 winner this year for Repole Stable and St Elias Stable. He also won the March 1 Gulfstream Park Mile (G2) in his only other start this season. The only change among the leading seven horses in week 24 of the poll was a swap of positions between Kentucky Derby (G1) and Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Sovereignty and Metropolitan Handicap (G1) winner Raging Torrent. Sovereignty now trails only Mindframe after being in the third position after week 23. Kopion and Locked, respectively ranked eighth and 10th last week, dropped out of the top 10 after losses last week. Only one horse among the top 10 in the poll races this week: ninth-ranked She Feels Pretty competes in the July 12 Diana Stakes (G1T) at Saratoga Race Course. The NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll, voting for which is conducted by national media, represents horses competing for Horse of the Year. The Top Thoroughbred Poll concludes Nov. 4, a few days after the two-day Breeders' Cup, taking place this fall at Del Mar. The full poll and votes by voter can be found online.
