Pipsy, Future Is Now Set for Rematch in Caress Stakes

Aiming for her third straight victory and back-to-back graded stakes wins, Pipsy (IRE) battles familiar foes in the $175,000 Caress Stakes (G3T), a 5 1/2-furlong grass sprint July 19 at Saratoga Race Course. The Ireland-bred 4-year-old filly of Kodiac (GB), trained by Will Walden, is 2-for-2 in 2025. Most recently, Pipsy won the June 5 Intercontinental Stakes (G2T) at Saratoga to earn her first graded stakes victory of the year and second of her career. “That was a good group of fillies she beat... you’ve got to bring your ‘A’ game every time,” Walden said. “We’re confident Pipsy will bring hers.” One mare looking to snap Pipsy's win streak is Future Is Now, who has earned three graded stakes victories in her career. Future Is Now finished half a length behind Pipsy in the Intercontinental Stakes, her first loss since last summer. “It was a good effort. We didn't get the exact result that we would have liked, but she ran a really good race,” Future Is Now's trainer Mike Trombetta said. Finishing three-quarters of a length behind Future Is Now in the Intercontinental Stakes was show finisher Kairyu (IRE), who will look to close the gap on the Intercontinental's top two Saturday. The turf field is made up of nine fillies and mares, six of them exiting the Intercontinental, with three additional entries made for the main track only. Rain is not expected.
