Blue Heaven Farm's grade 3 winner and dual grade 1-placed Pyrenees, retired last month due to injury, has been sold and will begin stud duty next year at Arboreum Farm in the Republic of Korea, according to Adam Corndorf of Blue Heaven Farm.
Pyrenees is a son of six-time leading sire Into Mischief and out of the grade 3-winning Newfoundland mare Our Khrysty. Bred in Kentucky by Blue Heaven Farm, Pyrenees is a half-brother to grade 1 winner Grace Adler (Curlin ) and grade 2-placed Virginia Key (Distorted Humor), dam of this year's Florida Derby (G1) winner Tappan Street.
"We're excited to welcome Pyrenees to Arboreum Farm's stallion roster for the next season," Young Sam Kim, the farm's stallion manager, said in a release from Blue Heaven Farm. "Arboreum is home to Concord Point, one of Korea's leading sires, and second-season stallion West Will Power. With his strong female family, proven race record, and physical, we believe he's an ideal fit for the Korean market. He will also be the first son of Into Mischief to stand in Korea. Pyrenees compiled a 4-3-1 record from 11 starts and earned $786,316. Last year at age 4, he won the Pimlico Special Stakes (G3) and placed in the Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) and the Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1).
Arboreum Farm, located in Songdang-ri, Gujwa-eup on Jeju Island, was established in 1997 and is proudly operated by five brothers. Over the years, it has grown into one of Korea's premier Thoroughbred breeding farms.
Arboreum Farm is home to approximately 50 broodmares and produces more than 40 foals every year, continuing its commitment to raising high-quality racehorses for the Korean racing industry.
