After dramatically winning the July 19 Haskell Stakes (G1) at Monmouth Park, Journalism has sprung from sixth to third in week 26 of National Thoroughbred Racing Association Top Thoroughbred Poll. He now trails only top-ranked Mindframe, a 4-year-old unbeaten this year, and second-ranked Sovereignty, who defeated Journalism in the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Belmont Stakes (G1).

The NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll, voting for which is conducted by national media, represents horses competing for Horse of the Year. The Top Thoroughbred Poll concludes Nov. 4, a few days after the two-day Breeders' Cup, taking place this fall at Del Mar.

Journalism, a 3-year-old son of Curlin  trained by Michael McCarthy, competed in all three legs of the Triple Crown this year, winning May 17 Preakness Stakes. He races for owners Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners, Bridlewood Farm, Don Alberto Stable, Bob LaPenta, Elayne Stables Five, Susan Magnier, Michael Tabor, and Derrick Smith.

Previously at No. 3 was Raging Torrent, who swapped places this week with Journalism, falling to sixth. The Metropolitan Handicap (G1) winner was retired this weekend with a suspensory injury to his left foreleg.

Making the biggest jump this week was Book'em Danno, who rose to eighth after being 27th a week ago. He comes off back-to-back victories in the June 7 True North Stakes (G3) and the July 19 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Stakes (G2), both at Saratoga Race Course.
