Bidding Opens for Harris Farms Reduction on F-T Digital

Bidding opened for the Major Reduction of Harris Farms on Fasig-Tipton Digital Aug. 14. The auction will take place over five days, closing Aug. 19 beginning at 5 p.m. ET. Ninety entries are cataloged as part of the reduction of leading California owner and breeder John C. Harris. Harris participated in all aspects of the Thoroughbred business, which included standing many of California's leading sires throughout the years. Harris died at the age of 81 in July. The reduction consists of breeding and racing stock. Included in the catalog are: Nu Pi Lambda (Hip 50): By City Zip, she is a half sister to Deterministic, winner of the Manhattan Stakes (G1T) and Fourstardave Stakes (G1T) this year. Nu Pi Lambda is offered in foal to Deterministic's sire Liam's Map. Hennys Crazy Train (Hip 51): Grade 2-placed earner of more than $300,000 carries her first foal by grade 1 winner Epicenter. She is out of a half sister to graded stakes winners Independence Hall and Black Onyx, and stakes winner Francois. Twenty-four mares offered with foals with foot. Forty horses of racing age, including unraced 2-year-olds being prepared for their career debuts. All offerings are being sold with no reserve. "We are honored for Fasig-Tipton Digital to be entrusted with the reduction of Harris Farms," said Fasig-Tipton's director of digital sales Leif Aaron. "Mr. Harris, a pillar of racing for more than four decades, spent his life developing these families, which have consistently produced top-quality runners since he assumed leadership of his family's stable in 1981." Alone or in partnership, Harris campaigned the likes of Soviet Problem, 1994 California Horse of the Year who finished second in the 1994 Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1); Unzip Me, a multiple graded stakes winner who finished third against males in the 2010 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G2T); grade 1 winner Alphabet Kisses; and graded stakes winners Closing Remarks, Lucky J.H., and High Standards, among many others. Since the year 2000, Harris runners have won 696 races for earnings of more than $22 million. Prospective buyers may view the catalogue and register to bid at digital.fasigtipton.com.
