Canterbury Park and Dailey Realty & Auction present the annual Minnesota Thoroughbred Yearling Sale on Sunday, Aug. 24. The auction will be held in the Canterbury Park Event Center at 5:30 p.m. following the afternoon racing program that begins at 1:10 p.m. A preview of the consignments, which includes 27 yearlings, five weanlings and a 2-year-old, will be held in the receiving barn adjacent to the event center Saturday, Aug. 23 from 5 until 8 p.m. and the day of the auction from 11 a.m. to the start of the sale.
The sale features yearlings out of mares that have produced Canterbury stakes winners such as Clickbait, a multiple stakes winner of $378,663, Cupid's Crush, graduate of the 2022 sale and winner of multiple stakes on turf and dirt with earnings of $463,430, and Majestic Pride, stakes winner of $423,685.
Successful Kentucky stallions are also well represented. The sire list includes Complexity, the leading freshman sire by graded stakes winners in 2024, Mitole, Karakontie, Maximus Mischief, Thousand Words, Vino Rossi, a top 5 sire of black-type 3-year-olds in North America in 2024, Cairo Prince and Flameaway.
