Biederman Real Estate and Auctioneers is honored to announce a special auction of personal items and professional equipment belonging to the late D. Wayne Lukas, one of the most accomplished trainers in the history of Thoroughbred racing.
The auction will be conducted by Biederman Real Estate and Auctioneers and hosted by Fasig-Tipton Co. on Tuesday, October 14, at 2:00 p.m. ET at the Newtown Paddocks, 2400 Newtown Pike, Lexington, KY.
Lukas, often referred to as a trailblazer and visionary in the sport, is the only person ever inducted into both the Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame (1999) and the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame (2007). Over his unparalleled career, Lukas achieved a record 20 Breeders' Cup victories, 15 Triple Crown race victories -- including four Kentucky Derby wins, seven Preakness Stakes victories, and four Belmont Stakes victories—and trained three Horse of the Year champions: Lady's Secret (1986), Criminal Type (1990), and Charismatic (1999). His horses amassed career earnings exceeding $300 million, a record-setting achievement that solidified his legacy as one of racing's true icons.
The upcoming auction will feature an exclusive collection of Lukas' personal belongings, racing memorabilia, and professional equipment, offering horsemen, collectors, and racing fans the rare opportunity to preserve a piece of his extraordinary legacy.
"D. Wayne Lukas defined excellence in Thoroughbred racing, and his influence will be felt for generations," said Tom Biederman, of Biederman Real Estate and Auctioneers. "This auction provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to connect with the history of a man whose career shaped the modern era of horse racing."
The auction is open to the public, with in-person and online bidding available. A complete catalog of items and details on how to participate will be available at BiedermanRealEstate.com by September 12th, 2025.
