OBS October Yearling Sale Catalog Now Available Online

The catalog for the Ocala Breeders' Sales October Yearling Sale was released Sept. 4 via the OBS website. The two-day sale is set for Oct. 7-8. Supplemental entries will be accepted until Sept. 24. A total of 459 horses have been cataloged for the sale with sessions beginning at noon ET each day. The Oct. 7 session will offer hips 1-230, plus supplemental entries, with the Oct. 8 session selling hips 301-530 along with supplements. Supplements will be sold based on the first letter of the name of the first dam. The sale will be streamed live via the OBS website as well as the BloodHorse website. This year's October sale features yearlings by such notable sires as American Pharoah, Authentic, Blame, Bolt d'Oro, Bucchero, Charlatan, Colonel Liam, Complexity, Constitution, Girvin, Good Magic, six-time leading sire and OBS grad Into Mischief, Kantharos, second-leading freshman sire Knicks Go, Leinster, Maximus Mischief, McKinzie, Medaglia d'Oro, Mitole, Omaha Beach, Practical Joke, Solomini, Uncle Chuck, Upstart, 2024 leading freshman sire and current leading second-crop sire Vekoma, Win Win Win, and leading freshman sire Yaupon. First-crop yearling sires with offerings in the October catalog include OBS grad and 2021 champion 2-year-old male Corniche, Cyberknife, Drain the Clock, Early Voting, 2022 champion 3-year-old male Epicenter, Golden Pal, Highly Motivated, 2021 champion male sprinter Jackie's Warrior, Magic On Tap, Mind Control, Mo Donegal, Mystic Guide, Nashville, Roadster, and Speaker's Corner. Featured on the cover of the catalog is OBS October graduate Crimson Advocate, who this year earned a second triumph at the prestigious Royal Ascot meeting. Now trained by John and Thady Gosden after beginning her career in the United States with George Weaver, the 4-year-old filly produced a devastating turn of foot to pass all of her rivals and score by 1 3/4 lengths in the Duke Of Cambridge Stakes (G2) at Royal Ascot June 18. Crimson Advocate earned her first Royal Ascot triumph when she captured the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) in 2023. She was purchased by Dewsweepers II for $100,000 out of the Beth Bayer consignment at the 2022 OBS October Yearling Sale. Featured on the back cover are a pair of OBS October stalwarts in multiple graded stakes winner and millionaire Mystic Lake and grade 1 winner Trikari. Named the 2024 Florida-bred Horse of the Year, Mystic Lake recently earned her third straight stakes win when she took the $250,000 Misty Bennett Pink Ribbon Stakes at Hollywood Casino At Charles Town Races Aug. 22. The victory marked the ninth stakes win for the filly trained by Saffie Joseph Jr. for C2 Racing Stables, Stefania Farms, and BAG Racing Stables and increased her career earnings to more than $1.36 million. She was sold by Summerfield (Francis & Barbara Vanlangendonck) to Tom McCrocklin, agent, for $3,500 at the 2022 October sale and was later purchased for $130,000 out of the Tom McCrocklin consignment at the 2023 OBS March Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training. Amerman Racing's Trikari earned his biggest career win when he took the 2024 edition of the Belmont Derby Invitational Stakes (G1T). The Graham Motion trainee, who was consigned by Ordonez Thoroughbreds to the 2022 October sale and purchased by Amerman Racing for $27,500, has won three graded stakes thus far in his career with earnings of nearly $1.4 million.
