Fred Mo quickly moved to the front of the field and won in his second career start, giving his sire Jess Mo his first winner Sept. 7 at Emerald Downs.
Dueling with Matts Advisor from the start, Fred Mo couldn't find clearance until hitting the stretch where the gelding opened up a two-length lead. Despite Matts Advisor going three-wide to challenge late, Fred Mo crossed the wire 1 3/4 lengths ahead.
The win in the 5 1/2-length maiden came in 1:05.67.
The 2-year-old Fred Mo is from Jess Mo's first crop. The chestnut was bred by Bar C Racing Stables, is owned by Mort Robbins, and trained by Robert Baze.
Jess Mo, a son of the late Uncle Mo, entered stud in 2022 and stood this year for $1,500 at Neal and Pam Christopherson's Bar C Racing Stables near Hermiston, Ore.
As a runner, the Eric Jensen homebred won once from six starts.
