A total of 199 fillies and mares have been cataloged for the JS Company's Broodmares Sale at Shizunai Oct. 22.
The largest consignment is Teruya Yoshida's Shadai Farm, which offers 35 fillies and mares. Included in their offerings is Hip 10, Sarah Sis, a 13-year-old mare by Sharp Humor who won five graded stakes in the United States and was fourth in the 2015 Ballerina Stakes (G1). Shadai Farm purchased the mare at Fasig-Tipton's November Sale in 2016 for $750,000. She sells in foal to Nadal, Japan's leading freshman sire in 2024.
Darley Japan consigns a group of 12, including Hip 126, Sundress, a 7-year-old winning Shamardal mare. She is out of Suez, who finished second in the 2004 Cheveley Park Stakes (G1), and is a half sister to Lyric of Light, winner of the 2011 Fillies Mile (G1). Sundress is in foal to Yoshida, who won the 2018 Woodward Stakes (G1) on dirt and the Turf Classic Stakes (G1T) in the U.S.
Another notable entry from Darley Japan is Hip 52, Lava Lake, a 3-year-old unraced filly by Too Darn Hot. She is a half sister to Khawlah, winner of the 2011 UAE Derby (G2) and UAE Oaks (G3). Khawlah is the dam of 2018 Epsom Derby (G1) winner Masar, who also won three graded stakes in the United Kingdom.
Hip 1, Aspaldiko, is a 5-year-old mare by Black Tide, from the consignment of Kaneko Makoto Holdings, who is a prominent owner and breeder in Japan. Aspaldiko is a three-quarter sister to Akaitorino Musume, winner of the 2021 Shuka Sho (G1), and is out of the mare Apapane, who was Japan's champion 2-year-old filly in 2009 and champion 3-year-old filly in 2010.
