Rancho San Miguel's first-crop sire Mo Forza , a grade 1-winning son of the late Uncle Mo, got his first winner Sept. 28 when his 2-year-old son Mo Holland Drive won a maiden special weight at Santa Anita Park.
The California-bred was making his fifth lifetime start in the six-furlong race over the turf for trainer Peter Miller, who also trained his sire.
Mo Holland Drive broke alertly and quickly gained ground to get the lead turning for home where he shook free at the top of the lane to win by two lengths. He completed the six furlongs over a firm turf course in 1:08.49.
The son of Mo Forza is owned in partnership by Altamira Racing Stable, California Racing Partners, Ciaglia Racing, Tom Kagele, and Nathan McCauley.
He was bred by River Oak Farm and is the first foal out of the Summer Front mare Awesome Drive. Mo Holland Drive went through the sales ring twice, failing to meet his reserves both times—as a short yearling at last year's Keeneland January Sale for $11,000, and as a yearling at the Keeneland September Sale attracting a final bid of $42,000.
Mo Forza won eight of his 15 career starts, seven of them coming in graded stakes races including the 2019 Hollywood Derby (G1). He retired with earnings of $1,034,460.
He stood the 2025 season at Rancho San Miguel near San Miguel, Calif., for an advertised fee of $7,500. He bred 102 mares in his first season at stud.
