Inflation Nation Retired to Stud at Ontario's Tara Farm

Inflation Nation (IRE), a multiple stakes-placed winner and son of Speightstown, has been retired to stud at Tara Horse Farm near Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario. His fee will be CA$1,000. The 5-year-old horse was bred by Yeguada Centurion out of the Galileo mare Urban Ball, a stakes-producing half sister to grade 1 winner and 2003 Canadian champion grass horse Perfect Soul (IRE) (Sadler's Wells). Perfect Soul became a leading sire in Canada in 2011. Inflation Nation sold to H & R Bloodstock for $100,000 at the 2022 Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training out of Top Line Sales' consignment. He went on to compile a 3-6-1 record from 23 starts that include a third in the Atlantic Beach Stakes at 2 and seconds in the Paradise Creek Stakes and Woodhaven Stakes at 3. All these stakes performances were on the turf. "Physically, you can see a lot of his sire Speightstown in Inflation Nation. He's a horse who's built for speed, power, and precocity," said Thomas Knizat, owner of Tara Horse Farm who acquired the stallion from New Jersey-based bloodstock agent Michael Slezak. "But beneath the surface, there's a deep vein of class and stamina not only from his broodmare sire, the legendary Galileo, but also from his incredible female family," he continued. "Inflation Nation's half sister Merimbula, by Dalakhani, was group 2 multiple stakes-placed in France, and there are 15 additional black-type horses to date under Inflation Nation's second dam, Charles Fipke's foundation mare Ball Chairman, by Secretariat." Knizat said many of Speightstown's sons are well-established proven stallions, such Munnings, Central Banker, and Echo Town, along with up-and-comers Prince of Monaco, Olympiad, and Nashville. Munnings is among this year's top 10 North American sires by number of black-type performers with 23, and Central Banker is a four-time leading sire in New York. "It also doesn't hurt that Inflation Nation's dam is a half sister to not just one, but two influential Canadian stallions," Knizat added. "To that end, we'd love for Ontario breeders to consider sending daughters of Perfect Soul, Not Impossible, Society's Chairman, and Not Bourbon, resulting in foals who will have the Rasmussen Factor via Ball Chairman."
