Toby Moore, son of legendary Ballydoyle top jockey Ryan Moore, is set to make his much-anticipated riding debut at Kempton Park Oct. 10 when he partners Valdorcia for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby in a 6-furlong fillies' novice.

Last winter, the younger Moore followed his father into the professional ranks by joining Appleby's Moulton Paddocks as an apprentice jockey. He will get his first taste of action on the daughter of Oasis Dream, claiming what is likely to be a handy 7 pounds.

The 17-year-old has ridden since he was a youngster and has come through the pony racing circuit, where he often appeared at the Shetland Pony Grand National at the London International Horse Show.

More recently, he was part of the winning team at the show jumping event at last year's Henry Cecil Newmarket Open Weekend together with his sister Sophie.

In May, Toby was given a taste of racecourse action when riding work on some Appleby runners alongside his father on Newmarket's Rowley Mile. In a 7-furlong exercise that day, he did not look out of place when partnering winning 3-year-old Olympus Point to finish ahead of his dad on Diamond Rain.

After the workout, Appleby said: "Toby has joined us this season and he's just getting some more experience of riding Thoroughbreds, as you could see here this morning. He's not ready for his first ride just yet, but riding work on the Rowley Mile will help him get a feel of what it's like and hopefully bring him on."

In addition to receiving advice from his father, Moore is in good company in his new surroundings at Moulton Paddocks, where he rides out regularly with dual champion jockey William Buick and champion apprentice Billy Loughnane.
