Thorpedo Anna to Make Keeneland Appearance Oct. 25
Fans will have the special opportunity to celebrate reigning Horse of the Year Thorpedo Anna on Saturday, Oct. 25, when the beloved champion returns to Keeneland for a special appearance on closing day of the Fall Meet. Her appearance in the Keeneland paddock will begin at approximately 4 p.m. ET, and she will appear on the main track following Race 7. "We are grateful to every Thorpedo Anna fan that has supported and cheered her on," trainer Kenny McPeek said. "I hope everyone turns up in pink one last time to see her and celebrate her racing career." Two years ago, Thorpedo Anna began her career at Keeneland when she won her debut by 8 1/2 lengths. She won 12 races in 16 starts, including the 2024 Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1) among 10 graded stakes, and earned $5.4 million. Thorpedo Anna has been retired and will begin her broodmare career in 2026 at Hill 'n' Dale at Xalapa in nearby Paris, Ky. "Thorpedo Anna captured the hearts of fans everywhere, and it's only fitting that she returns to Keeneland, where her incredible journey began," Keeneland president and CEO Shannon Arvin said. "We're honored to celebrate her accomplishments and give fans the opportunity to see one of the greatest of our sport as she retires." Thorpedo Anna's Keeneland schedule on Saturday: Approximately 4 p.m.: Thorpedo Anna will appear in the saddling paddock before and during Race 7 (post time 4:12 p.m.). Approximately 4:20 p.m.: Following Race 7, Thorpedo Anna will enter the trackside winner's circle and parade in front of fans on the main track. In addition, fans will have the opportunity to purchase a commemorative giclée print of Thorpedo Anna by equine artist Robert Clark at a pop-up shop located outside The Keeneland Shop beginning at noon. A 20% ownership interest in Thorpedo Anna will be offered at the second Keeneland Championship Sale on Wednesday, Oct. 29, in the Del Mar paddock. The live auction begins at 6:30 p.m. PT. The 20% fractional interest is consigned by McPeek Racing Stables, agent for Richard M. Edwards.
