Fully Subscribed Wins Stakes Debut in Mother Goose

As trainer Chad Brown and Klaravich Stables owner Seth Klarman formulate plans for their 2026 stable, a very nice option popped into place in the dirt older filly and mare category. Showing off her potential with a strong burst of late speed, Fully Subscribed stamped herself as a filly to watch next year as she drew away to a 4 1/2-length victory over Kentucky Oaks (G1) runner-up Drexel Hill in the $300,000 Mother Goose Stakes (G2) for 3-year-old fillies Nov. 8 at Aqueduct Racetrack. "She's trending the right way. She's a filly we always thought a lot of. She had a challenging, wide trip today and still motored home. I was very impressed," Brown said. "She's had 3 consecutive good races in her form cycle and now a grade 2 under her belt. She will be a central part of our 2026 plans." Making just her fourth career start, the daughter of Tiz the Law followed up a sharp second in a Sept. 28 mile-and-an-eighth allowance optional claiming race and through a victory in her nine-furlong stakes debut confirmed Brown's belief in her distance capabilities. "I've been looking to get her to a mile and an eighth. She was second to a good filly in her first try and earned a good number. I thought she could at least match that number or improve here," Brown said. The five-time Eclipse Award-winning trainer said the filly bred by Payson Stud in Kentucky will head to Florida for some time off after Saturday's win. Queen Azteca set the early pace in the Mother Goose, rattling off an opening quarter-mile of :24.00 with Godolphin's Lemon Zest chasing in second and jockey Dylan Davis reserving Fully Subscribed seventh in the field of nine. The action did not pick up until the final turn when Fully Subscribed and Drexel Hill, who was last early in her first race since May 2, moved together on the outside to challenge for the lead. But in the stretch, it was no contest as Fully Subscribed motored to a 2 1/2-length lead at the eighth pole and the 7-2 favorite ($9) widened the margin from there to complete the mile and an eighth in 1:49.73. "I felt good on the final turn," Brown said. "I thought we had the better position than a horse off a break. Then after getting the lead, she re-broke and motored home." Legion Racing's Drexel Hill, a Bolt d'Oro filly trained by Whit Beckman, ran well for second in her first race since finishing second at 32-1 odds in the Kentucky Oaks. "It was a great comeback effort," Beckman said. "I think fitness and the layoff kind of got to her by the quarter pole when she drifted wide. She motored home well and we're happy to get second." Lemon Zest, a Nyquist filly trained by Brad Cox, held on for third, a neck behind Drexel Hill. Out of the Candy Ride (ARG) mare Sweetbaby, Fully Subscribed was bought for $300,000 from the Caliente Thoroughbreds consignment at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training. With $245,300 in earnings, she won her October 13, 2024 debut but then was sidelined until Sept. 1 due to an upper limb injury when she was third in a one-mile allowance race. She is the only one of five foals by Sweetbaby to race and has a 2025 full brother by Tiz the Law. Fully Subscribed became the fourth graded winner and eighth black-type stakes winner of 2025 for second-crop sire Tiz the Law, who will stand for $30,000 next year at Ashford Stud in Kentucky. Earlier on the Aqueduct card, Tiz Dashing, a 3-year-old colt by Tiz the Law, won the Hill Prince Stakes (G3T).
