Disarm, Confidence Game Join Hidden Lake Farm Roster

Chris Bernhard of Hidden Lake Farm announced Nov. 13 the acquisition of two new stallions, Disarm and Confidence Game, to stand at the farm near Stillwater, N.Y., for 2026. Disarm's stud fee was set at $7,500, and Confidence Game's will be $5,000. The Stallion Company brokered the acquisitions of the two 5-year-old horses. "We are very excited to jump back into the New York Stallion arena with a graded stakes-winning millionaire by Gun Runner in Disarm and grade 2-winning son of Candy Ride in Confidence Game," Bernhard said. "Both beautiful colts offer valuable opportunity for breeders in the Empire State. "Disarm is the first Gun Runner to stand in New York, and to date, his other sons are off to a great start in the sales ring, including Gunite, Early Voting, Taiba, and Cyberknife. "Confidence Game is by Candy Ride, perhaps the most prolific sire of sires in the last decade, siring Gun Runner, Twirling Candy, and Vekoma. Confidence Game is the grade 2 Derby prep winner of the Rebel Stakes, out of a Bernardini half-sister to the great racemare Zenyatta. Both horses are graded stakes winners from deep families and poised to enhance the New York-bred program." The Steve Asmussen-trained Disarm, fourth behind Mage in the 2023 Kentucky Derby (G1), earned nearly $1.7 million for owner/breeder Winchell Thoroughbreds in a 19-race career that produced 12 triple-digit Equibase Speed Figure performances. He broke his maiden by 6 1/4 lengths going seven furlongs at Saratoga Race Course, won the 2023 Matt Winn Stakes (G3) at Ellis Park, finished second in the 2023 Travers Stakes (G1) at Saratoga, and the 2023 Louisiana Derby (G2) at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots. Also, that year, he was third in the 2023 Lexington Stakes (G3) at Keeneland. As an older horse, he ran third in both the 2024 Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) and the 2025 Whitney Stakes (G1). In his last effort on Sept. 25, he finished second to Mystic Dan in the Lukas Classic (G2) at Churchill Downs. Disarm's dam, Easy Tap, is by three-time leading broodmare sire Tapit. Confidence Game, 10th in the 2023 Kentucky Derby, earned $823,962 for owner Don't Tell My Wife Stables and trainer Keith Desormeaux, winning the 2023 Rebel Stakes (G2) and running third in the 2023 Lecomte Stakes (G3) at Fair Grounds and later the 2024 Iowa Sprint Stakes in other career highlights. His sire, Candy Ride, is the sire of nine champions, 116 black-type winners, and earners of more than $160 million. Confidence Game's second dam,Vertigneux, was 2008 Broodmare of the Year and dam of Zenyatta, one of the great mares in the history of the sport, a record-setter and 19-time winner, scoring 14 of those at the grade 1 level. Both stallions will stand as property of a syndicate, and live-foal-stands-and-nurses terms apply.
