Fan voting concluded Dec. 12 for the Arima Kinen (G1), the year-end championship race held Dec. 28 in Japan, which carries a total purse of ¥1.09 billion (approx. US$6.96 million), at Nakayama Racecourse.
Regaleira, a 4-year-old filly by Suave Richard, received the highest number of votes ever recorded—612,771—eclipsing the previous record of 478,478 established by Do Deuce in 2024.
Regaleira, bred by Katsumi Yoshida’s Northern Farm, has won five of her 11 career starts, including last year's Arima Kinen, and the Queen Elizabeth II Cup (G1) in 2025, for Sunday Racing.
Keita Tosaki has been aboard Regaleira in her last five starts, but has opted to ride 2024 Japanese Derby (G1) and 2025 Dubai Sheema Classic (G1T) winner Danon Decile in the Arima Kinen. Christophe Lemaire will have the mount on reigning Arima Kinen victor Regaliera.
Croix du Nord, a 3-year-old colt who won the 2024 Hopeful Stakes (G1) and the 2025 Japanese Derby (G1), and Masquerade Ball, a 3-year-old colt who won this year's Tenno Sho Autumn (G1), and was runner-up to Calandagan in the Japan Cup (G1) Nov. 30, received 566,330 votes and 424,952 votes, respectively, which were the second- and third-highest number of votes. Both connections have already announced they will skip the Arima Kinen to save the horses for a 2026 campaign.
