First Reported Foal for Grade 1 Winner Newgate

Three Chimneys Farm announced Jan. 16 that grade 1 winner Newgate has sired his first reported foal, a filly born Jan. 4 at Jody and Michelle Huckabay's Elm Tree Farm near Paris, Ky. The chestnut filly is out of the Cairo Prince mare Pakhet, who was runner-up in the 2018 Jessamine Stakes (G2T) and is the dam of stakes winner Spirit Doll, who won the 2025 Our Dear Peggy Stakes by 6 1/2 lengths Oct. 25 at Gulfstream Park. "Newgate is a tremendous physical and covered a high-quality book of 180 mares in his first year at stud," said Rebecca Nicholson, director of stallion nominations at Three Chimneys. "He has all of the qualities breeders look for in a young stallion, being by a proven sire of sires and combining an exceptional physical with superior talent and brilliance on the racetrack. We're very excited to have his first foals hit the ground." Newgate is by perennial leading sire Into Mischief and sold for $850,000 during the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. He broke his maiden at first asking and captured the 2024 Santa Anita Handicap (G1) on his way to earning more than $1 million for Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. He also won the Robert B. Lewis Stakes (G3) and placed in four other graded stakes. Newgate stands at Three Chimneys in 2026 for a fee of $17,500 under a live foal stands and nurses guarantee.
