This column highlights the performances of 3-year-old maidens who have made no more than five starts and who either sold for more than $500,000 at public auction, have siblings that are graded/group winners, or have dams that are graded/group winners. BloodHorse research shows maiden winners, in particular, who meet these criteria are more likely to go on to be graded stakes winners.
Trust Account, the 3-year-old daughter of grade 1 winner Shared Account, broke her maiden in her third career start March 7 at Gulfstream Park.
Going a mile on the turf, Trust Account broke alertly and raced second off the pacesetter Fletch's Rockette, who set fractions of :24.23, :48.20, and 1:12.49. She continued to race three wide down the backstretch under jockey David Egan. On the turn for home, Trust Account took over from the leader, and kicked clear to win by a length. The Brendan Walsh trainee finished in a final time of 1:35.58 on firm turf.
Trust Account paid $7.60 for the win, and earned a 75 Equibase Speed Figure and a 74 Beyer Speed Figure.
She is owned by Heider Family Stables, who purchased her for $1.5 million at the 2024 Keeneland September Yearling Sale out of the Gainesway consignment. Agents David Lanigan and Ted Durcan signed the ticket on behalf of Cindy Heider.
Trust Account is by seven-time leading sire Into Mischief and out of the grade 1-winning Pleasantly Perfect mare Shared Account. She was the winner of the 2010 Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Turf (G1T) at Churchill Downs and 2009 Lake Placid Stakes (G2T) at Saratoga Race Course. She is the dam of five foals to race, four winners, including Sharing, a daughter of Speightstown, who won the 2019 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G1T) and the 2020 Edgewood Stakes (G2T).
