My Boy Prince Brings Top Form to Turf Sprint Stakes

The top five finishers from the Shakertown Stakes (G2T) return for round 2.

My Boy Prince, recent winner of the Shakertown Stakes (G2T) at Keeneland, will look for his third consecutive win of the year in the $600,000 Twin Spires Turf Sprint Stakes (G2T) May 2 at Churchill Downs

The 5-year-old gelded son of Cairo Prince  enters Saturday's 5 1/2-furlong sprint off a peak performance in the Shakertown—his first graded stakes victory.

The multiple grade 1-placed millionaire, who races for owner Gary Barber, made his first start of the year in the Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint Stakes, where he was narrowly defeated by Stone Farm's Litigation. After swinging five wide in the upper stretch, he missed the win by a neck and place honors by a nose to Full Disclosure.

My Boy Prince rebounded in the Turf Dash Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs before his breakout victory in the Shakertown. He appears in top form ahead of the Turf Sprint, and was made the morning-line favorite at odds of 5-2.

He will face familiar rivals in Saturday's race, including the second- through fifth-place finishers in the Shakertown—Yellow Card, Mondogetsbuckets, Litigation, and Joe Shiesty.

Stone Farm's homebred Litigation will attempt to add his first graded stakes win to his résumé in the Turf Sprint. Trained by Brian Lynch, the 4-year-old colt by Twirling Candy  started off his 2026 season with wins in the Gulfstream Turf Sprint Stakes and the Silks Run Stakes, before finishing fourth to My Boy Prince in the Shakertown.

James Daniell's Yellow Card and Town and Country Racing's Mondogetsbuckets, who finished second and third, respectively, in the Shakertown, will have to bring their best efforts Saturday in the 10-horse field.

Front-running Joe Shiesty, who finished a game fifth in the Shakertown, has won two stakes races over the surface at Churchill Downs in 2024-25, and is worth considering at morning-line odds of 6-1.
