Prime Aurora First Winner for Mind Control
Prime Aurora broke her maiden on debut and became freshman sire Mind Control's first winner May 29 at Gulfstream Park. Going 4 1/2 furlongs on the dirt, she settled midpack under jockey Samy Camacho behind pacesetter Lamdara who posted an opening fraction of :21.63. The Abraham Gardea trainee made her move for the lead on the far turn, and reached the front as the field hit the stretch. Prime Aurora continued to clear under confident handling, and drew off by 8 3/4 lengths in :51.37 on a track rated good, while paying $13.40. Prime Aurora is a homebred for her owners Majestic View Farms International. She is out of the Political Force mare Silver Hustler, who has produced five winners from seven foals to race. Mind Control made more than $2 million in his 11 wins from 29 lifetime starts across five seasons of racing. The son of Stay Thirsty's most notable wins came in the 2018 Hopeful Stakes (G1) at 2, the 2019 H. Allen Jerkens Stakes (G1) at 3, and he capped off his career by winning the 2022 Cigar Mile Handicap (G1) at age 6. Campaigned initially by Gregory Sacco and later by Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher for owners Red Oak Stable and Madaket Stables, eight of his 11 wins came in graded stakes races. Mind Control is currently standing in New York as a Rockridge Stud/Irish Hill & Dutchess Views Stallions venture, with his 2026 fee set at $6,000.
